Central Community Unit School District 301 acknowledges that children can reach their potential with a positive learning environment filled with educational excellence and opportunities for hands on experimentation. They engage students in literacy activities in all grades using literature that is leveled and chosen especially for them. A new district wide initiative, Step Up to Writing, promotes student writing that supports multiple writing styles, language development, grammar, punctuation and the writing process. Writing is also integrated into other subject areas. Technology is seen as a vehicle to support and extend student learning in these and all other areas of the curriculum. The use of technology tools will be focused on the development of higher level analyses, evaluation, communications, and presentation and decision-making skills.
