Herscher Community Unit School District 2 Board realizes that education is personal in nature and aims at the ultimate development of the individual so that students can contribute to his/her personal fulfillment. With this in mind the board wants to provide the best professional freedom and encouragement of the staff to enable it to achieve the objectives of their program. They will encourage teachers to attempt and implement new and imaginative ways of teaching, thus providing the opportunity and the atmosphere for the students to discover themselves through creative experiences. So they make a pledge to exercise this trust and responsibility in a way which will ensure for the students of the District the best educational opportunities that the resources of the District and their efforts can provide. Herscher curriculum consist of standards-based, real-life, multidisciplinary tasks that also include problem solving and critical thinking as well as seek to encourage cognitive and affective development. Technology maximizes productivity and efficiency and enables schools to better prepare students for future learning.
