Okaw Area Vocational Center

The Okaw Area Vocational Center is home in Vandalia in Fayette County, Illinois. The vocational center offers an education in collaboration with the high schools in the area to provide the necessary resources for high school students to learn vocational trades. This education is provided for not only students in the city of Vandalia but surrounding communities and counties as well. The high schools utilizing the quality resources provided by the Okaw Area Vocational Center include of course Vandalia, Greenville, and Mulberry Grove. The vocational center allows high school students to receive college credits for trade classes. The trade class in the building sector buys properties in the Vandalia area, builds a home, and then sells the home, providing students with a hands on experience in the building industry. At the time of this writing, the Okaw Area Vocational Center has sold thirty-three homes in this manner.
