The mission of Vandalia Community Unit School District 203 is to prepare each and every student of the community for his or her future so they can become responsible members of their community and society. The district is home to two elementary schools, Jefferson Primary for students in pre-kindergarten through 1st and Vandalia Elementary for students in 2nd through 4th grades, one Junior High School, and one High School.
The area established the Vandalia Community Schools Foundation in 2007 to provide families, foundations, corporations, and individuals the ability to work to improve the success of each student. The foundation offers through community involvement the ability to better the athletic, cultural, and academic opportunities for students in the districts. The idea behind the district is to ensure that every student has the opportunity to receive a quality education while providing each student with the educational tools and resources to excel.
